"All the photographs in the book and the exhibition do not depict this basic duo of human - dog, rather it feels as if it is actually the women that Maj-Lis Andersen is really interested in, as well as approaching, getting to know, and portraying. The strength lies in this encounter with women tested by life, both in the light and the dark, and those quiet four-legged friends (well, mostly anyway) who always seem to lean out of the picture and even if they get stuck there, come along the purchase as the shadow of another relationship that has now become the solitary existence of one party.”
